Rechbergrennen 2026, opening round of the European HillClimb Championship, kicked off the season with an extremely close fight for victory and a very high competitive level across all categories.

Overall classification

The overall victory went to Christian Merli (Nova Proto NP01 C Cosworth), who delivered two very consistent runs.

The Italian edged Kevin Petit (Nova Proto NP01 Turbo) by just 0.347 seconds in a duel decided by the smallest of margins.

Third place went to Petr Trnka (Nova Proto NP01/2 Turbo), who returned to the European HillClimb Championship with a solid performance, finishing 3.695 seconds behind the winner.

Category 2

Category 2 was marked by a very close battle among the main contenders.

Christian Merli (Nova Proto NP01 C Cosworth) took the win, just ahead of Kevin Petit (Nova Proto NP01 Turbo), separated by only 0.347 seconds.

The podium was completed by Petr Trnka (Nova Proto NP01/2 Turbo).

Joseba Iraola (Nova Proto NP01) finished fourth after mechanical issues in the final part of the event, while Alexander Hin (Nova Proto NP01) secured fifth place on his debut with the car.

Also noteworthy was O’Play (Nova NP03), who delivered a very strong performance in his debut after moving on from Mitsubishi machinery.

Category 1

Category 1 delivered one of the most open and diverse battles of the weekend, with very small gaps at the front and a high level of competitiveness among very different types of cars.

Victory went to Ronnie Bratschi (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII RS), who secured the win thanks to his consistency across both runs.

Second place was taken by Niki Zlatkov (Audi Quattro Pikes Peak), particularly strong in the fast sections with his spectacular machine.

The podium was completed by Reto Meisel (Mercedes SLK 340 Judd), who once again demonstrated his vast experience on this kind of course, maintaining a very solid pace and securing a podium finish against very fast rivals in lighter machinery.

Just missing out on the podium was Dan Michl (Lotus Elise), who finished fourth after a very consistent and strong performance, narrowly missing the top three.

Clasificación general

La victoria absoluta fue para Christian Merli (Nova Proto NP01 C Cosworth), que se impuso tras dos mangas muy regulares.

El italiano superó por solo 0,347 segundos a Kevin Petit (Nova Proto NP01 Turbo), en un duelo decidido por mínimos detalles.

El tercer puesto fue para Petr Trnka (Nova Proto NP01/2 Turbo), que regresó al European Hill Climb Championship con una actuación sólida, finalizando a 3,695 segundos del vencedor.

La Categoría 2 estuvo marcada por una gran igualdad entre los principales candidatos.
