This 90th edition of the Rallye Monte-Carlo has been legendary and very exciting until the end. On the one hand, there was the start of the 2022 season, the beginning of the new hybrid era with the new Rally1 and finally, the two best drivers of recent years, perhaps in the history of this sport, coincided in this same rally.

Sébastien Loeb (Ford Puma Rally1) and Sébastien Ogier (Toyota GR Yaris Rally1) despite not having a complete program for the whole season, have been the main protagonists of this Rallye Monte-Carlo.

After finishing second in the Dakar Rally the previous week, Loeb did not come to Monte-Carlo for a walk and was the first to hit, being the fastest in the Shakedown and on Friday as he passed through the mythical Col de Turini.

The difference between the two French drivers was very small but Ogier, thanks to a good choice of tires, managed to get a good lead over Loeb in the snow of another mythical stage of the rally, Sisteron. After Saturday's session, this placed Ogier in the lead with a 20-second advantage over Loeb.

We arrived at Sunday and Loeb was clear that he was not going to give up, his only objective was to push and cut all the lost time. Ogier suffered to contain Loeb and made two mistakes that would be important.

In the penultimate stage Ogier suffered a puncture after brushing against a ditch losing a lot of time with Loeb. In the last special stage of the rally, Ogier was ahead at the start and received a 10-second penalty. In this way Sébastien Loeb achieved victory by 10.5 seconds.

Let's go with the records, since with this victory Loeb adds 80 victories in the WRC, at the age of 48 he has been the oldest driver to lead and achieve a victory in a WRC rally beating Björn Waldegård.

We cannot forget his co-driver, the French Isabelle Galmiche who has also made history as she becomes the second woman to win a WRC rally. The first was the Italian Fabrizia Pons together with Piero Liatti, curiously also at the Rallye Monte-Carlo in the 1997 edition.

Craig Breen (Ford Puma Rally1) finished third quickly adapting to the new Puma, Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota GR Yaris Rally1) is the virtual leader of the championship as he finished fourth and won the Power Stage with his bonus points. The Sébastiens Loeb and Ogier in principle will not participate in all the rallies of the championship.

Gus Greensmith (Ford Puma Rally1) was fifth, taking his first WRC scratch and sixth position for Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20 N Rally1). A rally to forget for the Belgian as the new Hyundai is not up to par with Ford and Toyota, and his teammates Ott Tänak and Oliver Solberg have dropped out due to various problems.

In WRC2 comfortable victory for Andreas Mikkelsen (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo) who is at a higher level than his rivals. Second was Nikolay Gryazin (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo) and third Erik Cais (Ford Fiesta Rally2).

In WRC3 narrow victory for the young Sami Pajari (Ford Fiesta Rally3), second at 7.3 seconds was finished by Jan Černý (Ford Fiesta Rally3) and third but far behind Enrico Brazzoli (Ford Fiesta Rally3).

Rallye Monte-Carlo 2022 - Le Roi Revient

Cette 90ème édition du Rallye Monte-Carlo a été mythique et très excitante jusqu'au bout. D'un côté, il y a eu le début de la saison 2022, le début de la nouvelle ère hybride avec le nouveau Rally1 et enfin, les deux meilleurs pilotes de ces dernières années, peut-être de l'histoire de ce sport, ont coïncidé dans ce même rallye.

Sébastien Loeb (Ford Puma Rally1) et Sébastien Ogier (Toyota GR Yaris Rally1) bien qu'ils n'aient pas de programme complet pour toute la saison, ont été les principaux protagonistes de ce Rallye Monte-Carlo.

Après avoir terminé deuxième du Rallye Dakar la semaine précédente, Loeb n'est pas venu se promener à Monte-Carlo et a été le premier à percuter, étant le plus rapide au Shakedown et vendredi lors de son passage dans le mythique Col de Turini.

L'écart entre les deux pilotes français était minime mais Ogier, grâce à un bon choix de pneumatiques, parvenait à prendre une belle avance sur Loeb dans la neige d'une autre étape mythique du rallye, Sisteron. Après la séance de samedi, cela plaçait Ogier en tête avec 20 secondes d'avance sur Loeb.

Nous sommes arrivés dimanche et Loeb était clair qu'il n'allait pas abandonner, son seul objectif était d'attaquer et de couper tout le temps perdu. Ogier a souffert pour contenir Loeb et a commis deux erreurs qui seraient essentielles.

Dans l'avant-dernière étape, Ogier est victime d'une crevaison après avoir frôlé un fossé perdant beaucoup de temps avec Loeb. Dans la dernière spéciale du rallye, Ogier était en tête au départ et écopait d'une pénalité de 10 secondes. De cette manière, Sébastien Loeb a remporté la victoire avec 10,5 secondes.

Allons-y avec les records, puisqu'avec cette victoire Loeb ajoute 80 victoires en WRC, à 48 ans il est le pilote le plus âgé à mener et remporter une victoire dans un rallye WRC en battant Björn Waldegård.

On ne peut oublier sa copilote, la Française Isabelle Galmiche qui est également entrée dans l'histoire en devenant la deuxième femme à remporter un rallye WRC. La première était l'Italienne Fabrizia Pons avec Piero Liatti, curieusement également au Rallye Monte-Carlo lors de l'édition 1997.

En WRC3, victoire serrée du jeune Sami Pajari (Ford Fiesta Rally3), deuxième à 7,3 secondes pour Jan Černý (Ford Fiesta Rally3) et troisième mais loin derrière Enrico Brazzoli (Ford Fiesta Rally3).

Rallye Monte-Carlo 2022 - El Rey ha Vuelto

Esta edición 90 del Rallye Monte-Carlo ha sido legendaria y muy emocionante hasta el final. Por un lado estaba el inicio de la temporada 2022, el comienzo de la nueva era hibrida con los novedosos Rally1 y por último coincidían en este mismo rally los dos mejores pilotos de los últimos años, tal vez de la historia de este deporte.

Sébastien Loeb (Ford Puma Rally1) y Sébastien Ogier (Toyota GR Yaris Rally1) a pesar de no contar con un programa completo para toda la temporada han sido los grandes protagonistas de este Rallye Monte-Carlo.

Tras acabar segundo en el Rally Dakar la semana anterior Loeb no venia a Monte-Carlo de paseo y fue el primero en golpear siendo el más rápido en el Shakedown y en la jornada del viernes a su paso por el mítico Col de Turini.

La diferencia entre los dos pilotos franceses era muy pequeña pero Ogier gracias a una buena elección de neumáticos logró una buena ventaja ante Loeb entre la nieve de otro mítico tramo del rally, Sisteron. Esto colocaba tras la jornada del sábado a Ogier líder con una ventaja de 20 segundos frente a Loeb.

Llegamos al domingo y Loeb tenía claro que no se iba a rendir, su único objetivo era empujar y recortar todo el tiempo perdido. Ogier sufrió para contener a Loeb y cometió dos errores que serían clave.

En el penúltimo tramo Ogier sufrió un pinchazo tras rozar con una cuneta perdiendo mucho tiempo con Loeb. En la última especial del rally Ogier se adelantaba en la salida y recibía una penalización de 10 segundos. De esta forma Sébastien Loeb conseguía la victoria por 10.5 segundos.

Vamos con los récord, ya que con esta victoria Loeb suma 80 victorias en el WRC, a la edad de 48 años ha sido el piloto más veterano en liderar y conseguir una victoria en un rally del WRC superando a Björn Waldegård.

No podemos olvidarnos de su copiloto, la francesa Isabelle Galmiche que también ha hecho historia ya que se convierte en la segunda mujer en ganar un rally del WRC. La primera ha sido la italiana Fabrizia Pons junto a Piero Liatti curiosamente también en el Rallye Monte-Carlo en la edición de 1997.
